Volume 5, Issue 1 Your Connection to the BBC Sales Company August 2003
Editor's NoteAs The Insider begins its fifth year of publication I thought this would be a good time to take a step back and look at some of our “greatest hits” before we go forward again. For some, this will be a chance to catch up on things you missed. For others, it will be a nice refresher course.
I tend not to look at issues once they’re done but, having been forced to do so this time, I have to say that we’ve certainly covered a lot of ground. It has been a pleasure to write about decades of British comedy, from classics such as Are You Being Served?, Blackadder, Keeping Up Appearances and Last of the Summer Wine to newer shows such as the wonderful Coupling and Father Ted.
Along the way, I’ve also had the opportunity to grab a few celebrity interviews to pass on to you. I’m reprinting the one here with Dawn French, who didn’t take things seriously at all (as you will see), but what else should I have expected?
It’s been a great trip for me through the history of British comedy and I hope you enjoy the ride as we take a look at the best of The Insider.

The Insider MailboxUPDATE ON KISS ME KATE STARS
My husband and I are fans of the BBC comedy, Kiss Me Kate. Can you tell us what the stars of the show, Caroline Quentin, Chris Langham, Amanda Holden and Darrin Boyd are doing? We know Mr. Boyd is currently in the American
sitcom Ellie, but what are the rest of the actors doing?
S. Denzien
EDITOR REPLIES: Amanda Holden is now playing a hairdresser in a program called Cutting It. Chris Langham did a fabulous series called People Like Us, in which he played an incompetent film maker. He recently starred in a drama about the life of writer George Orwell. Caroline Quentin starred in Jonathan Creek and Men Behaving Badly. She recently played a thief (!!!) in a drama called Hot Money.
MONARCH OF THE GLEN FAN
I am a big fan of Monarch of the Glen. Can you tell me where it’s filmed? The location is so gorgeous.
Harriet Rubin, PA
EDITOR REPLIES: Agreed. The location is stunning. Monarch is filmed near the town of Aviemore in the Scottish highlands. Serving as Glenbogle is Ardverikie House on Loch Laggan. The same area was used in the Judi Dench movie Mrs. Brown.
