CollegeInvest Wyoming awards $3,000 in scholarships
Kids from Cody and Lingle win money for higher education
CollegeInvest Wyoming has awarded a total of $3,000 in scholarships to three kids from
the state.
Kids under 12 from all across Wyoming entered the contest in which they answered the
question: "What do you want to be when you grow up and how would a college
education help make that possible?"
The winners of the contest are: Stirling Lawn , age 6, Michaela Osborne, age 8 both of
Cody, and Delaney Schmer, age 10 of Lingle.
A winner was selected from each of three age categories: ages 0-6, ages 7-9 and ages 10-
12. CollegeInvest Wyoming awarded a $1,000 college savings plan to each of the three
winners.
This is the first Wyoming scholarship contest offered by CollegeInvest since announcing
the partnership last summer that made the popular Colorado 529 college savings plans
available to Wyoming residents.
"The entrants had the chance to write an essay or draw a picture to participate in the
contest. We received some really creative entries from kids across Wyoming," said
Jennifer Robinson of CollegeInvest. "It's not very often that kids this young can help
their parents out with college savings!"
The $3,000 in total winnings was awarded in the form of CollegeInvest Wyoming 529
college savings plan accounts. Money saved through these college savings plans can be
used nationwide at any eligible public or private colleges, universities and vocational
schools for qualified higher education expenses such as tuition, fees, certain room, and
board and required supplies.
